Johnny's cousin Jeff Allen from Boston is visiting Johnny. When Jeff arrives, Troop notices that he is the spitting image of Billy the Kid. On the stage Jeff meets a local girl Elly who takes a shine to every new boy in town but is Jib Willis's girlfriend. When others mistake Jeff for Billy the Kid, he buys a gun and assumes the part including learning to shoot. After Jib and friends beat Jeff up in front of Elly's house, Jeff wants revenge via the gun. Adding to the problem a man whose friend was killed by Billy starts to take revenge out on Jeff until Johnny stops it. Troop is forced to prove to Jeff he is not a killer by provoking Jeff into a duel. Written by Anonymous

The real Billy the Kid had died in July 1881 in New Mexico. Since Marshal Troop arrived in Laramie circa 1880 and remarked in a prior episode he had been in Laramie for several years, everyone in town would know Johnny's cousin could not be Billy the Kid. It would likewise be impossible for someone to have seen Billy the Kid 6 months earlier as one character mentioned. See more »
