Troop hears that Frank Walker escaped prison. When he tells the wife and son, he is shot and can't use his gun hand. The son, who worships his father, tells Dan "that'll make it awful hard on you!" and hopes he'll be dead within the week.

Storyline

On a hot day Johnny asks Troop if he has every been afraid but it is too hot for Dan to answer. Troop receives a telegram that Frank Walker, who swore to kill Troop, has escaped from prison. Troop rides out to the Walker place to tell his wife that Frank has escaped and to turn himself in when he arrives. Frank's son Eddy is full of hatred for Troop and threatens Dan with a pistol. During the confrontation Troop gun hand is accidental shot. Troop returns to Laramie and bandages his right hand but cannot use it. He tells Lily this is one time he is scared. A man reports seeing Frank, so Troop and Johnny go to the Walker home. However, Frank is terminally ill with 3 months left and has come to die at home. He is forced to stop his son who still wants revenge. Troop and Johnny decide to fake Frank's death to allow him to die at home. Written by Anonymous
