Storyline

While traveling back to Santa Fe, Sam and Deputy Forbes stop at Libertyville so Sam can visit an old ninety year old friend, but Sam decides to stay and investigate the reason behind a seemingly fake preacher and a man carrying a bag full of peppermint candy. Sam knows the three men in the hotel are together, but he's not quite sure how. To add to his troubles, the preacher is preaching Revelations to the town folk and warning them they will die if they don't sell everything and go back to the town they were born in. this was different!

Definitely original! I can honestly say I haven't ever seen a western episode quite like this. I've heard tell that in the "good ol' days," people were afraid of things they didn't understand, such as comets. I wonder how much was known back in the 1880's on such an event.

I'm not quite sure how the write came up wish such a story using peppermint candy, water, a comet, and fake money, but it was very ingenious how they did it! Of course, Sam again came out the hero...

I may have to take back what I'm about to say in a few episodes, but I believe this is a turning point in the show. I don't think we see much of Tess anymore, and I can't help but to wonder why. I wonder if she was unable to do the show, or if perhaps they wanted to concentrate more on Sam the lawman and less on Sam who has a little girl to watch after.
