Benson gets it right
30 April 2014 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

One of the weirder episodes from the SVU series this one has Christopher Meloni unable to view this case objectively because he sees his daughters in the place of one of the persons of interest.

It must have been an interesting living arrangement in the household where a travel writer who boarded with a mother and daughter, Patricia Richardson and Lynn Collins, is found dead with a pair of women's undergarments stuck in his mouth. It seems as though both mother and daughter are both interested in this guy even though Richardson is seeing John Dossett.

What Mariska Hargitay sees and what Meloni can't is that Collins is quite the mature teen. Meloni as the father of several daughters looks at her like a father instead of a cop.

Dossett raises an interesting issue himself. Turns out he's using his late brother's identity because he's a registered sex offender. Working with crime victims I can tell you a sex offender registry is quite the weapon that can be used against one and people get on there for all kinds of reasons and all kinds of cases. This is a theme that would be explored in future shows.

Lisa Tharps plays an ADA who is getting exasperated with the SVU squad's inability to arrive at a scenario. It was a good role, I wish we saw her some more.

It's Olivia Benson who gets it right.
