That post Saved By The Bell image
16 November 2012 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

Mark-Paul Gosselaar who has spent his post 1995 life trying to live down the image of Zach Morris to the extent of shedding that blond dye job he had while in Saved By The Bell gets as far away as you can from TeeNBC playing a rent boy who gets himself shot and gang raped in this SVU episode.

As this incident gets place in an alley behind a Greenwich Village gay bar the obvious first thought was hate crime. Frankly in real life that's what I would have thought. But as it turns out Gosselaar is gay for pay, trying to make a living to support a wife and a baby with health issues.

And he won't tell Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay about the crime. Turns out his wife Elizabeth Banks has got a minor league reputation in the porn industry, but she's an ambitious girl willing to leave all behind to go on to fame and fortune with the big producers of porn.

This is one of the more sordid SVU episodes dealing with the porn industry and how it can suck you down if you don't keep your wits about you. I've known some who've worked in the business and some have had successful post porn lives because they were shrewd and careful. Banks is neither.

Still this is a nicely presented and acted episode, one of the best they ever did in the series.
