R.E. Rodgers playing stone cold serial killer Darryl Kern is the kind of criminal for whom the death penalty is meant for. No remorse whatsoever, his killings planned like a military operation and no doubt of his guilt. In fact he takes pride in his work. But the escape of one of his potential victims sends the SVU squad into action.
This particular episode highlights Richard Belzer as he and Ice-T are the prime detectives with Benson and Stabler as backup. Before Kerns is done there are several bodies even after Munch and Fin are on the trail including an accomplice whom they had picked up and let go.
Rodgers is finally caught in Canada and with a little legal legerdemain Stephanie March argues before the Canadian courts for his extradition. I agree with Angie Harmon who had a similar incident involving a Canadian serial killer in Law And Order prime, who are the Canadians to tell us what to do with our criminals? Dan Frazer, the former Captain McNeil on Kojak was the Canadian justice. Quite a bit older, his voice was unmistakable.
Good episode and nice that Richard Belzer and Ice T took the lead spots for once.
