"The Banker and the Bimbo"
21 August 2016 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

A young coed is found murdered in her dorm room. She was a girl from Terre Haute who concealed many things from her unsuspecting parents.

One of them being that she was making extra money as a topless dancer where in that kind of atmosphere she got wind of an insider trading scheme that went all the way up to the top management of a most conservative investment firm. She hoped to get a job there and use as leverage her knowledge of the insider trading it got her killed.

To some degree of culpability former porn star Adrienne Shelly, skinhead dope dealer Stephen Spinella and one of the partners in the investment house Peter Van Wagner are guilty.

There are three people to watch out for. I wish Bob Dishy had made even more appearances on Law And Order as Lawrence Weaver who is Van Wagner's high price mouthpiece. His client is something else.

And on that Van Wagner portrays a man who is such a miserable schlep of a human being it's hard to believe he rose to the top of his profession. Especially with all the thinking he does with his male member. It's the reason for this whole tawdry affair.

Finally Shelly's attorney Fay Ann Lee has a great courtroom scene where she pulls Van Wagner apart and blows up a carefully orchestrated deal that Sam Waterston and Bob Dishy have put together. She and Van Wagner are really good.

The title of the review comes from Jack McCoy. Sums it all up.
