Sgt. Greevey and Det. Logan are looking for Brutus Walker, a suspect bin the robbery of a gun store and arrive at a building just as a man is thrown from an apartment window. Minutes later, police officer Pete Rennick is shot on the roof. The obvious suspect is Walker who witnesses claim was responsible for throwing the man out of the window. As the investigation progresses however, they come to learn that Rennick was a dirty cop who would steal drugs from various busts and then resells them. Logan for his part is also irritated by Rennick' partner Nicki Sandoval who he feels is reacting oddly to her partner's death. Secret tape recordings are key to solving the case. Written by garykmcd

Did You Know?

Based on the Larry Davis case. Larry Davis was a New Yorker who, in 1986, shot at 6 police officers who were carrying out a raid. Davis later claimed the officers were out to murder him because of his knowledge of corrupt cops but the officers claimed they were only there to question Davis about the killing of four (suspected) drug dealers. Davis managed to escape and a manhunt was on for him; he took hostages and only surrendered himself to the police when the news media showed up and he was promised not to be harmed. See more »

Detectives on the scene
26 October 2017 | by See all my reviews

In an unusual twist to the Law And Order standard pattern, Detectives Logan and Greeney were on the scene of not one but two homicides. First a man lands on the roof of their car during a surveillance of a drug dealer. Then while Chris Noth and George Dzundza check out the apartment where the recently deceased fell from, two uniform cops go to the roof in pursuit of the fleeing subject of the surveillance. Shots ring out and Logan and Greeney find one of the uniform officers dying of a gunshot wound and the partner Wendy Makkena just numb in a state of shock.

Every person on the NYPD is out after the drug dealer that was being watched who is now labeled a cop killer. Still during the course of the investigation a lot of unpleasant facts about the deceased are found out.

One of Michael Moriarty's finest pieces of acting comes in the final scene where ADA Ben Stone is before the Grand Jury presenting the facts. I only wish it had gone on a bit longer.
