Christmas for the homeless
angelahptrio30 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I like the episode because the homeless are invited to Pizza Bowl for Christmas feast, and the gang earn extra money for food. The whole episode is Laverne and Shirley and the gang doing a good deed. I love the message that money doesn't buy happiness as long you people you love it's a blessing. The sale scene is too funny.

Classic TV Xmas Countdown Episode #48
kgraovac20 December 2023
Frank cannot afford to put on his Annual Xmas dinner for the local homeless people.

This is the weaker of the two L&S holiday episodes. It's not as cohesive and we have a few different ideas that kind of seem thrown together to make a full episode.

Shirley chastises Laverne for messing up the lyrics to "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and singing off-key. Which seems kind of mean but Laverne has it coming since she ate the popcorn they had strung for the tree. She also ate a chunk out of the gingerbread star (YUCK - they'd had it for years!).

Later, when the girls go Xmas shopping, they get in a tug-of-war with a fat lady over a pair of leopard capri pants and end up being thrown into a clearance bin where someone steals Laverne's shoe. They encounter Lenny and Squiggy - dressed as an elf and a fairy - playing Santa's helpers, and Frank as the store Santa. Shirley can't contain her contempt for a bratty little boy. Frank ends up getting fired which means he can't afford to host the charity dinner at the Pizza Bowl.

Carmine and the girls then try to make some $ by caroling on the street corner, but are up against a burly Santa and a territorial Sister Sarah & Her Salvations. It looks like the only Xmas dinner the bums will be enjoying is Edna's banana-spam surprise, until Lenny and Squiggy save the day by bringing a turkey.

It's just an okay episode, but if you have to choose, watch the Season 2 Xmas offering instead. 6/10.
