When Carmine 'The Big Ragoo' Ragusa (Eddie Mekka) aka Lightning Man walks out on the tight rope made out of dental floss to rescue Squiggy you can clearly see he is holding on to another line with his left hand for balance. The camera angle and color of that line make it hard to see. Once he reaches Squiggy you can see him let go of that extra line.
