Somebody over at NBC must have seen 12 Angry Men and thought the idea would be great for a Laredo story. So it came to pass that both Claude Akins and William Smith got to serve on jury duty for the trial of an Indian who has some feeling that a white jury won't give him a fair trial as he is accused of murdering a white woman who took him in.
There's a reason that the film is called 12 Angry Men. No woman was allowed to serve on a jury in New York in 1957. But in post Civil War Texas three of them are on this jury. William Smith is in the Henry Fonda part as he slowly convinces the other's of his more than reasonable doubts.
Claude Woolman is the accused, Vaughn Taylor is the judge who runs a most informal court. No prosecutor or defense attorney, Taylor asks the questions.
Comedy is supplied by muleskinner Patsy Kelly who takes one look at Claude Akins and decides he's the man to be husband number 4. She's also on the jury with Akins.
I think Laredo fans will like this one for sure.
