Right before the stage arrives a young man rides up to the Sherman ranch asking Jess if he and his horse can have some water to which Jess readily agrees. The stage pulls up and a lone passenger Frank Mannus gets out. The man fires his pistol at Mannus making a flesh wound in his left arm. Slim stops the boy while Jess helps Mannus. As Daisy dresses the wound, Mannus reveals the boy is Billy O'Neill, the brother of Slim's one time love, Abbey. After five years in prison, Frank Mannus is returning to Laramie to reopen the Nugget Casino and with him will be Abbey O'Neill. Abbey's return kindles old feelings with Slim but all isn't as it seems and when Abbey's brother is killed, Sheriff Cory asks Slim to take Mannus' offer of learning the casino business. It seems that Mannus is about to sell some counterfeit plates to a very nasty eastern syndicate and Cory needs help until the marshals arrive. The presence of the plates in Laramie puts Abbey, Slim, Jess Harper and Mort Cory in danger ... Written by DarSpi

An old flame
20 February 2017 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

Lyle Bettger, Anthony Caruso, and Erin O'Brien guest star in this Laramie story where Slim Sherman meets up with an old flame who has now taken up with former saloon keeper who did a stretch in the federal penitentiary and now wants to open up his former business in Laramie.

But Lyle Bettger has more than that on his mind. He's got a big deal cooking with some eastern gang types led by Sean McClory. O'Brien also has an agenda of her own. It doesn't help calm matters when her younger brother PaulGeary is killed by Caruso who does Bettger's dirty work.

Bettger's not psychotic in this story, he's smooth as glass but just as dangerous.

And Bettger is always fascinating to watch.
