Slim and Jess are on a posse led by Sheriff Mort Cory that traps a seventeen year old who committed a robbery in Laramie. After the robber takes a shot that hits Jess' coat, Mort is forced to shoot killing the robber. Killing such a young man upsets Mort as well as the mayor and city council who decide to bring in a new deputy who might replace Mort. Paul Halleck arrives in Laramie with his daughter Sharon to become the new deputy sheriff and possibly Sheriff Mort Cory's replacement. Halleck's arrival stirs up bitter memories for Jess of his imprisonment in the Yankee prison camp commanded by Halleck. Sharon, the daughter, tries to tell Jess that her father has equally bad memories due to his lack of resources to do more for the prisoners. Jess' desire for revenge drives a wedge in his friendship with Slim and the wedge is driven deeper when a group of Jess's fellow prisoners arrive in Laramie to follow through on their pact to kill Halleck. Jess becomes a man at war with himself and that war puts him on opposing sides of his friends Slim and Mort Cory. Will Jess do the right thing?- Written by DarSpi
