Vern Buckner wanted for murder has been captured but there is a possibility that his brother Clint and his gang are going to try to free him while he is being transported. Sheriff Cory tried to arrest a man, De Walt, who he and Jess think was going to help based on a map he had. Cory is wounded and De Walt dies so Jess decides to ride to Stillwater Crossing which is near the Buckner gang home, Ironwood, where the Marshal must cross the river. Jess is critically wounded by Clint Buckner's gang when he attempts to prevent the ambush of the tumbleweed wagon transporting Clint's brother, Vern to his hanging in Cheyenne. With Jess needing a doctor, and not likely to survive the trip to Laramie, Marshal Branch McGary and Deputy Reb Carlson along with driver Patches are forced to head for Ironwood and straight into the arms of Clint Buckner and his gang. Buckner kidnaps the town doctor in an attempt to force Marshal McGary to free his brother to save Jess' life. Written by Anonymous
