Ben Yuma is badly wounded in a train robbery and badly needs a doctor. He and his gang have holed up in the caves near Laramie where he sends his brother for the doctor. Slim Sherman has gone to Laramie to fetch the Doc Kingsley, the vet, for his prize mare. He also picks up Sandy, one of saloon girls that has been asked to leave town. On the way to the ranch, in a case of mistaken identity, Phil Yuma kidnaps all three thinking that Doc Kingsley is a medical doctor. Kingsley is forced to remove the bullet from Ben Yuma but all is not well within the gang's ranks. Someone in the gang shot Ben and the dissension puts Slim, Doc Kingsley and Sandy in danger. What they don't know is that Jess Harper, after hearing a strange story from Mose the stage driver, has been trailing them into the hills. It's now a question of whether or not Jess will reach them in time to help. Written by DarSpi

When you need a doctor grab a vet
16 February 2017 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

This Laramie episode starts when Slim Sherman has to go to town to fetch a veterinarian because he has a mare in foal at the stagecoach station. He goes to town and gets Richard Coogan and Mary Murphy. But some outlaws, the Yuma brothers have a wounded leader and the three are kidnapped and brought to their hideout cave.

Where Coogan gets to work on his first human patient Gregory Walcott since the Civil War. He lost an eye and confidence in that conflict. I'd be a little uneasy myself going for surgery to a doctor with only one eye and no depth perception.

James Griffith is one of the gang and his specialty was playing weak willed and slimy and traitorous villains. He once played the ultimate betrayer in a film as Judas. He lives right up to his casting.

Of course it all works out in the end. Due in no small regard for Griffith's treachery.
