Storyline

Jess Harper comes to Danver's Pass looking for Dan Preston and immediately runs afoul of Matt Jessup and his gang. Jessup owns the town and Jess is asking too many questions about Dan Preston. Preston is a prospector who helped Jess out of jam once and he's contacted Jess needing his help. Everybody in town denies ever hearing of Preston but circumstances convince Jess that whoever isn't in Jessup's pocket, like the sheriff, is too scared to talk. What little help he gets is from Mae at the hotel and Chuck, the deputy sheriff. When Jess' stubborn search nearly gets him killed, it's Mae who comes to his aid and admits what she knows about Dan and his gold strike. Time is running out for Dan unless Jess, Mae and Chuck can rescue him from Jessup's clutches and they'll risk their lives doing it. Written by DarSpi

Unexpected allies
15 March 2017 | by See all my reviews

In answer to a friend's summoning for help Robert Fuller rides into an outlaw controlled town. Sheriff Judson Pratt is in the hip pocket of a gang run by Charles Drake and his two chief henchmen Leo Gordon and Kevin Hagen, Hagen's a real bottom feeder who likes to get real personal with use of a knife.

The outlaws have kidnapped Jess Harper's friend played by Jason Robards,Sr. and want him to disclose the location of a big strike he's made.

Fuller makes some unexpected allies in Phyllis Avery who is the hotel owner and the chattel of Drake so he thinks and of the honest deputy sheriff Brad Weston who knows his boss is a crook but could never do anything about it. In fact Weston proves invaluable in the final shootout.

The rest of the Laramie regulars don't appear so Fuller and a fine and familiar guest cast carries the load here.
