Doc Longley is a wily old outlaw looking to live out his last years in peace where he grew up, which is Laramie. Someone in his gang doesn't want him to and they've framed him for the murder of the deputy sheriff in Laramie. With no one to trust Longley turns to Slim Sherman for help, to the dismay of the young rancher. Slim owes Longley his life having been saved by the outlaw when he was a boy. Longley has also threatened Jess Harper's life if Slim refuses. Caught between the law and the old outlaw, Slim has little choice but he'll only do it if Longley turns himself in to prove he's innocent. Longley's gang breaks him out of jail when the hearing goes against him and he finally finds out who in his gang wants him dead but Slim could end up another victim in their plot to get Longley's money.
