Part 3 - Kwai Chang meets Daniel Caine
29 August 2010 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"The Brothers Caine" continues the chase theme,as Vincent Corbino(Leslie Nielsen)has put out a bounty on Danny Caine(Tim McIntire),and summoned an expert fighter called Bad Sam(Carl Weathers)to keep an eye on Kwai Chang Caine. The one person in Orion who knows where Danny can be found is Lula Morgan(Joanna Moore),a former lover who had helped take care of his baby son Zeke some 14 years before, now willing to sell her information to the highest bidder.Corbino has an ace in the hole with the arrival of General Cantrell(John Vernon),whose late daughter Delonia was Zeke's mother, come to claim his grandson for himself,no matter what the consequences. When the General buys Zeke's favors with 1000 dollars,Bad Sam is eavesdropping when Lula reveals all to the lad.Leaving her dead in her home,Sam is instructed to take a gun and a basket of food to Danny's hidden cave, telling him that Kwai Chang is a Chinese bounty hunter, sent by Corbino to kill him(a brilliant ploy,to be sure). The unarmed Shaolin foils Sam's plot, and is forced into a battle to the death, with the survivor,Kwai Chang Caine, finally able to greet his long lost brother.Easily the best of the final four, this also provides our last glimpse of Philip Ahn's Master Kan,who provided such quiet words of wisdom throughout the show's three season run.One of Caine's deadliest adversaries,Carl Weathers was best remembered as Apollo Creed in the ROCKY movies.Part 4 follows.
