Caine finds himself in a small Mexican village,to see a man named Matteo(Alejandro Rey),whose father had saved the life of Caine's father in China,to repay the debt he inherited when he was still a small boy.Matteo is angry because his father's death drove his mother to an early grave, and refuses to allow Caine to pay his debt. The presence of Sanjero(Joe Santos,of THE ROCKFORD FILES),leader of a band of outlaws who collect money from the village as payment for "protection," inspires Matteo to ask Caine to teach him how to kill.He is taught how to use his inner strength to complement the physical, and helps his village achieve independence by defeating Sanjero one on one.Julio Medina returns as another priest, like the one he portrayed in "The Brujo," and Barbara Luna appears as Matteo's pregnant wife, who first asks Caine for money, placing no value upon work.Bill Fletcher provides our only glimpse of Caine's late father, with Stephen Manly playing a younger Boy Caine,as he will in the following entry.
