Just because something is old doesn't mean it's a classic...and this episode of "Kraft Theatre" is a good example. The show has two huge problems. First, it's hard to do a live action version of "Alice in Wonderland" given it's live TV in the mid-1950s. The sets are cheap and sparse, the characters look pretty crappy (like from a school play) and the story simply cannot hope to compete with Hollywood productions or the Disney film. Second, and this one baffled the heck out of me, someone decided it was a good idea to have Edgar Bergen and Charley McCarthy there as well! The ventriloquist had no reason to be there and Charley's smart remarks seemed ill-fitting and pointless. Overall, I can't see much reason to recommend this and it's far from a shining moment in the history of television.
