Did You Know?

While going through Ms. Tibbs's apartment, Kolchak reads a "scroll" and describes it as saying she was "some kind of a member of a society at the Max Match corporation...", as if this is completely new to him. But just a short time before he found the same scroll in William Cubby's apartment. See more »

Tony Vincenzo: Carl, do you mind if I read the copy? After all, I am the bureau chief here.
Carl Kolchak: Yes, absolutely, Tony. Absolutely. Tomorrow morning, first thing, I'll spitball a few ideas at cha.
Tony Vincenzo: Spitballing a few ideas is when you start a feature, not when you're polishing it.
Carl Kolchak: No, no. That's the way I work, Tony. See, I spit and polish at the same time.

Running on Empty

This, the penultimate episode of the series, may be the weakest. Curvaceous blonde Cathy Lee Cosby (as Helen Surtees) runs a dating service that serves as a front for killing off young people, so she can perpetuate her own youth. Ms. Cosby is really the ancient Greek mythological woman known as "Helen of Troy". Soon, Kolchak (Darren McGavin) is hot on her trail. The "ghoul-of-the-week" format's death knoll has risen. The writers, Mr. McGavin, and the "Kolchak" series are clearly out of gas and money; however, the supporting and guest cast hold up well.
