Legacy of Terror is a fine episode that is often over-looked. Erik Estrada gives a show-stopping performance as Pepe Torres, a young man so disillusioned with life that he agrees to be sacrificed in exchange for a year being treated like a king. Don McDougall's direction is stunning, the scenes in the deserted stadium are particularly haunting and unsettling, keeping you on the edge of your seat. McGavin shows a softer, gentler side to Kolchak when trying to dissuade Pepe from going through with the deal - "who says you have to be a box boy?" is delivered with an expression that suggests Kolchak understands and maybe even feels Pepe's pain. Both men are outsiders. So am I. Aren't you?
