Kojak feels the heat

A body of a young female is discovered with a bit of rope still tied around her neck and when Telly Savalas gets the call it brings back some bad memories. Back in the summer of 1969 when he was keeping company with Diane Baker and it looked like it was getting serious he was on the case of this serial killer who used this method. It's looking like he shot the wrong man when the alleged perpetrator was fleeing police custody.

Of course 1 Police Plaza is looking to protect its own reputation so the most commended detective on the NYPD is ordered by the Chief of Detectives Thalmus Rasulala to sit it out.

That's nothing Kojak is about to do, he takes vacation time and investigates on his own. As he retraces his steps he comes into contact with Baker again out of necessity.

It's revealed right away that the real killer is Stephen McHattie who is an amateur fighter who kind of does this for a sideline. Way before the police get on his trail a most mysterious man played by Alex Dreier follows McHattie's little hobby.

Nicely done and continued in a second part.

Missing a prominent song played throughout the Latin dance of Telly Savalos and Diane Baker: Blue Tango. This was a major hit song by Leroy Anderson in the early 1950's. Anderson was a famous composer of instrumental music.
