Crocker is ready to extradite a prisoner from Las Vegas when they are kidnapped, along with a theatrical agent and one identical twin (half of the "Only Topless Magicians"). Kojak, who flies to Vegas, and the other twin try to discover the reason for the snatch--including a casino crawl and interviewing Liberace, a client of the agent. The two of them join the Jeep posse out in the desert, but it's Crocker's booby trap which saves the day. Written by
This episode was apparently meant as a companion piece to Telly Savalas's movie "Beyond Reason" (which he also directed) by having Priscilla Barnes appear in both shows - however, she was dropped from the feature film (she's still visible in long shot for those who have seen the movie). See more »
When Kojak and Vicky watch the DC-3 taking off, a shadow of either crew or equipment appears and disappears on Kojak's back as the camera pans backwards. See more »
It was a hoot to see Kojak the quintessential NY cop in Vegas (Baby). Crocker is kidnapped along with a prisoner he was taking to NY, a theatrical agent and half of an identical twin topless magic act. Of course, this means Kojak must fly to Vegas to help solve the crime because Crocker might leave a message that only Kojak would understand. It sounds absurd, and it is, but what the hell? They had to get Kojak to Vegas somehow. Episode is worthwhile just to see scene with Kojak and Liberace, where the former gets an autographed picture for Saperstein's mother! Our favorite NY police lieutenant ends up driving around the Nevada desert in a yellow Jeep with Pricilla Barnes, playing the topless magic act twin who wasn't kidnapped. Kojak is nearly topless himself at this point, wearing a NY Yankees windbreaker with NO SHIRT underneath! The script writer contrived to have the other twin transported to the desert so both of them can end up embracing Kojak.
