The Yvonne Boyd segment and fashion parade is actually a parody of a real event. Vivienne Westwood (whom Boyd is based upon), gave an interview on the chat show Wogan (which was at the time being guest hosted by Sue Lawley). During the interview, Westwood introduced some of her models, all of whom were wearing her new medically themed designs. Many of the studio audience laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of the designs, prompting Westwood to say,"If your studio audience don't stop laughing, I shall tell my models to stop coming out".
