Rematch!
Mr-Fusion2 April 2017
I think the reason I liked 'K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R.' so much is because it tapped into that feeling of watching this as a kid again; two over-powered foes gearing up for a reckoning. But did they make good on the promise and inflict maximum carnage in the end? Not really. But that's because the real strength is in the buildup to the main event, with Michael's anxiety reaching fever pitch. Bu the time you get to the end, you're so happy K.I.T.T.'s intact that there really is no letdown, at least for me.

The real drawback here is that Peter Cullen wasn't brought back to voice K.A.R.R., and it's a noticeable difference to say the least. On the other hand, I do like the new paint job; it's K.I.T.T.'s version of a goateed evil twin.

Truth in advertising

Warning: Spoilers
Plot; A young couple stumble upon K.A.R.R., the sinister prototype of K.I.T.T. thought destroyed two years earlier.

Whenever Michael and K.I.T.T. faced off against another super vehicle, it was always an event. And few foes could match the excitement generated by K.I.T.T.'s evil twin, K.A.R.R. However I must admit that this particular showdown is a bit, ah, pedestrian. That's not to say that the ultimate caro y caro action isn't fun, but the two foes are kept apart for the bulk of the episode and that kinda defeats the purpose.

When last we saw K.A.R.R. he was blown to smithereens, a point Michael and K.I.T.T. remind us of, though the episode subsequently never bothers to explain how or why K.A.R.R. is found buried beneath the sand, fully intact. I suppose logic isn't exactly a requisite for a show like this, so best just to sit back and enjoy the finely aged cheese.

  • Guest star Jeff Osterhage was one of the finalists to play Michael Knight. He's no 'Hoff, but like the latter he does a commendable job playing against a talking car.

  • Osterhage's IMDb biography lists his trademark as "Hairy chest", which I can unfortunately now verify.

Knight Rider's PG version of Christine

Warning: Spoilers
Stop me if you have heard this before: goofy kid finds self aware, indestructible car, that will never let him go, and is out for revenge. Yes, it sounds like Stephen King's Christine, and this is sort of a PG rated version with KARR filling the revenge car role and KITT making a more than formidable foe. This episode is indeed one of my favorites with lots of action and a nice engaging story. KARR does indeed come back from the dead without explanation after seemingly being destroyed in a first season episode. What would you expect from an evil possessed car with sinister motivations? He is at his evil best - now armed with a laser - and the new two tone paint job is terrific along with the yellow scanner. The ending when the two cars meet in the air is not to be missed. Loved this episode as a kid and still have fun watching it.

It's alive!

Warning: Spoilers
It's alive and being led by a dopey kid who appears to have no idea what he's doing. A few plot holes, like why did KARR have to kidnap two people to get KITT to face off? He could have done that at any time.
