Michael and Kitt enter the Alternative 2000, a cross country race for cars that run on alternative fuel. They are there to find a saboteur, not to win, but find themselves having to rescue nosy reporter Liberty Cox in each lap.
Did You Know?
In this episode, an orange Dodge Charger is a participant in the race. The car is driven by a pair of relatives, one with blonde hair, and one with dark hair. The pair have a Dixie flag on their uniforms. Also, their vehicle is powered by moonshine. This seems like a reference to the series The Dukes of Hazzard, where a pair of cousins drive an orange Dodge Charger with a confederate flag painted on the roof, and have a family history of driving moonshine around a dry county. When the reporter lady escapes from the drunk racers' car, the hooligans toss her bags and camera out of their window, too, as they roar off again. No ordinary camera could withstand hitting the hard pavement - especially at high speed like that - without being smashed, yet right afterwards when the car explodes, she uses the camera to take photos of the fiery scene, and in subsequent images of the camera, it appears clean and wholly undamaged. What do you think Devon?
It goes against the grain to see a man rewarded for insubordination.
