While they torture Chet in an attempt to get him to quit, Jack realizes he can't reproduce the now-famous fish dish without Teddy, right when it's the only thing all of Nolita's customers want to order. Teddy Takes Off
22 June 2006 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This is the first "Kitchen Confidential" episode I've ever seen and I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. If the rest of the series is as good as this episode, I'll definitely keep watching. This episode dealt with the Head Chef taking credit for Teddy's recipe in a magazine article. Teddy finds out and quits. When the Head Chef tries to recreate the recipe, it all goes wrong - customers get tired of waiting for their meals and begin to walk out. In the end, the kitchen staff go to where Teddy is now working and "kidnap" him. What made this true to life for me is, after Teddy is in the car his only comment is "I forgot my knives." I work very closely with the Chef of the residential home I manage (he's worked in kitchens throughout Europe) and this episode is proof of the stories he's told me about life in a restaurant kitchen. The interplay between the staff, the language, the tantrums. I've never heard of Anthony Bourdain before, but I'm going to Amazon's site and buy the book.
