Once the hottest chef in New York City, Jack Bourdain's bouts with womanizing, brawling, and drug and alcohol abuse have landed him in the kitchen of an embarrassing family eatery. Salvation comes when he's hired as the head chef of Nolita, a trendy new haute cuisine restaurant, and he must quickly assemble his staff of degenerate chefs, deal with a scheming head waitress, and impress New York's top food critic, who happens to be his ex-girlfriend.
Brilliant chef Jack Bourdain gets a chance to get out of the measly pizzeria of his lover-flatmate Suze. He was there for years after being sacked for his temperamental stunts on earlier jobs when restaurant owner Pino challenges him to reopen his place from scratch in two days. He can practically pick his own kitchen crew, a crazy bunch including a junkie and a Utah novice desperate enough to keep his first big city job. Barely started and still bickering with a girl he thinks is Pino's lover, he must face a major restaurant critic, who can make or break the restaurant, and has a grudge against Jack for cheating on her with her sister.
