Not the best of the series, but a good one. Here, Kavanagh faces one of his more difficult cases, concerning two drug dealers. What makes it complicated are the validity(or lack of it) of the evidence and that shifty Kevin Gregson has started threatening Kavanagh and his wife. Tightly constructed, with some good court room scenes, what benefits is the music and the acting. The music is hauntingly beautiful and poignant, and on the acting front John Thaw is excellent as always and Jonathan Phillips is perfect as shifty Gregson. Overall, good but not absolutely outstanding due to some characters that were rather underwritten. 8/10 Bethany Cox
