A young man is run over by a member of a neighborhood law enforcement committee, but the police and the crown prosecution service decide there is insufficient evidence to charge the driver. The boy's mother decides to pursue a private prosecution and Kavanagh agrees to take on the case despite his own view that the defense may not have a case to answer. The young man had a history of getting into trouble with the police but had been at a pub just prior to being run down. Kavanagh must prove that this is nothing less than a case in vigilantism. Things at home are strained when Matt seems to be getting into trouble at school. Written by

Now, it is my firm advice that you shouldn't proceed. You will lose.
Lose what? Everythin' I had was in Ryan. Money... a house... what's that? It doesn't matter how old they are, Mr. Kavanagh. You don't stop lovin', and you don't let them down. I've never asked anyone for anything, but I need your help. Will you help us please?
