Peter Palin is opening a posh pub in the country. He also upsets his neighbouring sheep farmer. When a sheep is found dead, farmer Greenwood blames Palin.
Two CID officers turn up north from London. They have come to warn Palin that his former partner in crime has escaped custody and he might come looking for him.
When Palin is found badly beaten, Inspector Jean Darblay is not sure whether it is the farmer of Palin's former associate who is responsible.
This is another not too riveting episode. As it goes along you can guess who the culprit is.
This time the proper coppers from the big city rub everyone up the wrong way. They are not too keen on women police inspectors but they acknowledge Darblay is fanciable. Sergeant Joseph Beck decides to give them a runaround.
