Contains spoilers When the Hollywood hack writers want to send leftist social/political messages, they really don't waste time with such boring tasks as writing good stories for them to be dropped into. In this case, their message is that the "New Morality" and the new lifestyle it presents is here, and it's good, and barbarous old relics like marriage and it's obligations are intolerable. We're treated to soapbox speeches about how only that if people love each other it should determine if ,and how long they should be together. We're given so many straw men here, it should be declared a fire hazard. The murdered man's wife has kids, but she's shown herself to lie about whether the guy asked for a divorce or not, so we have no sympathy for her; she's too stupid to see how dysfunctional the institution of marriage is, after all.
The girl's father doesn't understand her because he doesn't dig "New Morality". ( When the question of why she had an older man for a paramour,it's offered:'She needed a father figure"). You can't be a good parent unless you escape all those worthless ideas of old.
The real low point of this one is that to prove the victim deserved to die, was by the discovery, out of the blue, near the crime scene of tape recordings of him by turns arguing about divorcing his wife, and then of a lovemaking session with our heroine, and then of him playing that back to his wife! This confirms that marriage is all hypocrisy, and that he betrayed the new morality, to boot. That's utterly preposterous. No trial show should have it this easy- unarguable, perfect, close the case, slam dunk tape recordings?
