After a well known horror writer is shot dead one night at her son-in-law's house, her killer simply disappeared. As Jonathan is somewhat uninterested in the case, Maddy investigates for herself.

Storyline

Ezra Lazurus is a successful writer of the macabre who leaves a Halloween costume party with her second husband with a splitting headache. When they arrive home, an intruder knocks her husband out, dons his skeleton costume, and fatally shoots her. Alarmed by the shot Lazarus's daughter Lorna runs to her room but is knocked unconscious by the killer, who runs out of the house carrying her. When he is pursued, he hides in the brick garage and closes the door behind them. When the police arrive and open the door, the murderer is nowhere to be found although Lorna is lying there unconscious without her costume on. After Maddie is hired by Lorna's husband, a local vicar to find a logical explanation for the bizarre events. she brings Jonathon in on the case. Written by duke1029@aol.com
