Storyline

After erroneously getting out at his Dallas lay-over from New York, Joey Tribbiani (whose "Friends" mates stay in the Big Apple) arrives in L.A., where his sassy sister (who cracks Chandler and him would love it there 'together') Gina has found him an ideal apartment, it even has a sexy neighbor, corporate lawyer Alex. He gets a warm welcome too from his charming, nerdy cousin Michael, an actual rocket scientist, who is desperate at age 20 to move out from ma and with cool uncle Joe, alas without money to share the rent, and both fear Gina's reaction, however a demonstration of Michael's cooking makes it worth braving a dragon-mother for in food-focused Joey's eyes and watering mouth... Joey tragically believes the new TV show "Nurses" isn't worth accepting a part in, but it becomes a hit, while the show he chose over it is canceled so he desperately turns to his new agent Bobby, who can only get him an audition for TV news show presenter, which he fails, proving unable to face the ... Pilot (#1.1)
1 October 2014 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Joey moves from NC to LA where his sister Gina Tribbiani lives. He now wants to make it in Hollywood. Unfortunately he doesn't take the big success Nurses and his show is cancelled so he has to look for more now. His nephew Michael wants to move from his mom and with him but this causes a bit of a fighting.

This is a spin off from the great show Friends and Joey Tribbiani is the main character. The first episode is of course nothing special. We are just introduced to the main characters. I like how they still made a reference to Chandler in this episode when Joey says that they are not a gay couple. As a fan I always wished they would become1 My favorite couple from Friends. Joey is very much like his old self. We see it right at the first scene when he ends up getting out in Dallas instead of going further to LA, and when he gets mad when Michael wants to try his spaghetti. As we all know, Joey doesn't share food!

When it comes to the new characters, his agent Bobbie seems very promising and fun. It was weird to see Drea de Matteo in a sitcom as I am now used to her from Sopranos. Actually, I have seen some episodes from Joey before and I remember that I didn't like her much there. But after seeing her in Sopranos and having her as one of my characters in it, she didn't seem bad at all now.
