Intelligent story telling.

Jericho investigates when a scientist is found garroted, with lipstick on his face and newspaper in his mouth, soon after a postman is killed in similar circumstances. Jericho links the men to a lonely hearts club, and sets about catching the femme fatale.

This is such a watchable episode, the storyline is great, very intriguing. Multi layered events for Jericho, including the case, Juliette and his continued antagonism with DI Christie. It's incredibly well acted, Jane Horrocks is superb, one of the best straight roles I've seen her in. I loved her scenes with Jericho, you are convinced she's up to no good. Great scenes including Jericho's dates and the gripping ending.

Getting old and more confused with every passing day

Jericho and crew investigate the garrote murders of two very different individuals, a nuclear scientist and a postman. The link seems to be a lonely hearts club, and the most likely suspect a female. Jericho, an aging individual with no family, sort of pals around with one of the women he investigates, which complicates his already complicated life, as his latest girlfriend is a hooker and an illegal alien. For American viewers, this will take two viewings to figure out who's who and what's what. It can be very hard to understand what they're saying the first time around, and some of the,male actors too closely resemble each other. It's no MONK. But we might as well watch it while we wait for the final season of MONK. Inexplicably, the show is set in the late 1940s or early 1950s, which does not give it an plus in this American viewer's eyes. Leave that period to L. A. CONFIDENTIAL, where it worked well.

shameful

Sea of Love is an excellent movie about a cop, Al Pacino, using the personal classified to find a serial killer. This episode directly steals from Sea of Love. The scenes in the bar when Jericho interviews the suspects and hopes to get their fingerprints is a direct steal. They even have the detective taking the used glasses back to the kitchen almost dropping the glass. This is a shameful bit of stealing. It's difficult to believe the director and the producers are not complicit. The rest of the material in this episode is dull and sullen. No imagination involved. Shameful. The woman who plays the french prostitute is quite good and her relationship with Jericho is promising, but it seems no one had enough energy to pay it off.
