During a field exercise aboard the Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia, a Marine is found to have become beaten to death, and the assigned Navy hospital corpsman goes on trial in a court-martial; Mac prosecutes, Harm defends, and Bud serves as a member of the court. Bud argues reasonable doubt to his fellow members, but afterward he has second thoughts. Meanwhile Sturgis lends a hand aboard the Naval Submarine Base, Groton, Connecticut, and in the marriage of a young sailor with a frightened wife. Harm helps Sergei with his immigration.
