"The Talk" and flashbacks on the Admiral's verandah.
hindsonevansmike8 April 2021
Finally, we reach the engagement party for Mac and Mic. The Admiral is honoured to be asked to give Mac away.

Harm and Mac spend an inordinately-long time on the balcony - proving the tolerance of Mic Brumby and Rene Peterson. This large part of the episode is like watching paint dry - and less conclusive, given our Dynamic Duo's ability to never really discuss the heart of their relationship.

In fairness, stretching it out over nine seasons, from Jan1997 to April2005, was quite an achievement in TV history and avoids the "Curse of Moonlighting" scenario.

Despite Harm and Mac spending a LOT of time standing out on the verandah, they finally - as always - never really reach a conclusion.

Harriet gets her Lt bars (after Alan Mattoni had inadvertently dumped a plate of food down Bud's special shirt) and everyone gathers round for the cutting of the Mic 'n' Mac engagement cake.

Super couple

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite episodes I absolutely love the sexual tension between Harm and Mac! This episode changes everything as they reflect on their past and brings their characters stories to a climax! Can they move past their feelings or not? As a huge fan of this couple I was sad to see what happened afterwards, but I always come back to this episode to make me feel better! They definitely did these two dirty later on but we can pretend can't we?

David and Catherine's on screen chemistry is one of the best on television and it makes this episode shine! Their longing looks they give each other, their tears and laughs, even down to their intense kiss at the end leaves you wanting more! Also this episode was David's director debut and he did an amazing job!

This episode has Harm and Mac reflecting on when they met, each case they had and times where they needed each other to lean on!

It's a beautiful episode as we learn how they have saved each other time and time again! Harm finally shows some emotion and leaves mac shocked not knowing if she should get married or not! This episode leaves our two leads in turmoil and heart break but leads to beautiful moments that really embraces their characters feelings!

Bud also plays a role in this episode as the comic relief, since harm and macs scenes are so heavy! He supplies the light heated moments that blend wonderfully into the intense moments! The cast of this show is incredible and it leaves u wanting more from all of these characters!

How to vote on a worse engagement party ever?
herthh7 February 2017
Let me call the two characters "she" and "he", we all know who is meant by that.

She gets engaged to an Ozi. Admiral throws a party, a special cake with US and Australian flags is served, so great... But: she avoids the groom to be... He leaves his girlfriend alone, sad and confused yet again. "She" and "He" spend almost the entire hour in private conversation outside the house, and fantasize about the possibility of their own relationship.

Where is the fun in watching it, please? Maybe Broombe should have rather get engaged to Renee, and everybody would be more happy, including the viewers. We might have watched another crime mystery, or a legal case, and resulting court proceeding. Instead we got awkwardness lasting for 45minutes. Thanks, but I can do without it.

the long goodbye

Frankly, neither elliott nor bell are as interesting characters as karri turner ... she lights up every scene she's in and then some ...it makes an otherwise dull show worth watching...even cindy ambuehl is better than watching the others
