Rabb is going to do his quals on the USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67). The ship he arrives on is the USS Enterprise (CVN 65). Still later, when Rabb is doing his quals, he is shown landing on the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).
Harm flies his FA-18 in formation with a Cessna. This is technically impossible. The Cessna's maximum airspeed is very close to the stall speed of the FA-18. The Cessna is not flying a maximum airspeed and the FA-18 is not flying nose high with flaps extended (to maintain minimum airspeed).
Cmdr. Turner theorizes that the Cessna was on autopilot and returned to it programmed destination after Harm tipped it off course. The autopilots on small planes is not programmed for a destination but for a set course. If it had been on autopilot and resumed its course, it would have been flying a course that would have missed the oil terminal.
