In discussing the Charlie Bennett case, Morse mentions that he had only recently been promoted to Detective-Sergeant at the time; from the file he peruses, the date of the investigation can be seen to have been in 1975. However, the "Endeavour" series of many years later, a prequel to "Inspector Morse", shows him getting that promotion in late 1967.
The village driven through by Morse and Cheetham en route to the prison is the village used in Avengers episode Murdersville
The choirmaster in the scene of the choir practice is played by Barrington Pheloung the composer of the theme to Inspector Morse and other incidental music throughout the show.
