Trivia

Per the title, the Staten Island Ferry is a passenger ferry service operated by the New York City Department of Transportation that runs between Manhattan Island and Staten Island. The ferry departs Manhattan from South Ferry, near Whitehall Circle, at the southernmost tip of Manhattan near Battery Park. On Staten Island, the ferry arrives and departs from St. George Ferry Terminal. The five mile journey takes about 22 minutes each way and is free of charge, but for many decades the fare was only a nickel making it the best bargain in New York City. See more »

Quotes

Lucy Ricardo: [the Ricardos and the Mertzes are going to Europ] Have you studied your German?
Fred Mertz: Jawohl, Fräulein
Lucy Ricardo: Hey, that's wonderful
Fred Mertz: Geben Sie mir ein Glas Weizenbier
[pronounced light ununderstandable at the end]
Lucy Ricardo: Hey, that's great. What does it mean?
Ethel Mertz: What do you think it means? Give me a glass of beer.
Lucy Ricardo: Is this all, he'd learned?
Ethel Mertz: No, he had learned how to order nine different kinds of beer. Oh, we'll have some interesting time in Germany.
