Storyline

While Tony is giving a tour at NASA, Jeannie interrupts him to show him how she plans on redecorating the house. Tony then orders Jeannie to leave but before she can blink out she is accidentally struck on the head by Doctor Bellows. As a result she loses her memory and is brought to the hospital where she is hounded by a shyster lawyer. Also, she has x-rays taken of her head and when they turn up blank it makes Bellows suspicious. Tony and Roger then try to help her regain her memory by trying to convince her that she is a genie and in the process she turns Bellows into a mouse. Unfortunately, he is mistaken for a mouse that is to be put on a rocket heading for Mars. Now it is a race against time as they try to not only get Jeannie's memory back, but turn Bellows back to normal before he heads for the red planet. Written by Brian Washington <Sargebri@att.net>

Richard Deacon as Jeannie's lawyer
3 November 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"Who Are You Calling a Genie?" opens with Dr. Bellows accidentally knocking out Jeannie at NASA, with her attorney present, Harley Z. Pool (Richard Deacon), a litigious legend in his own mind. X-rays indicate that Jeannie's brain is transparent, and suffering from amnesia she naturally doesn't remember her master, screaming at the sight of him. In trying to convince her that she lives in a bottle in her master's home, she promises not to tell anyone where to find him! She blinks a knight on horseback into her room, then mistakenly turns Dr. Bellows into a mouse, believing what Tony described her to be, a world famous female magician. Unless Jeannie regains her memory, the long suffering doctor is bound for the moon in a cage. The only disappointment is that Richard Deacon's role isn't larger, a constant delight on THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW.
