"U.F.Oh Jeannie" kicked off the fourth season, Majors Nelson and Healey literally up in the air in a small craft returning to Earth from a top secret mission, Jeannie's added weight taking them off course. When they step out of the ship they find themselves captured at gunpoint by a family of rural hillbillies led by Paw (J. Pat O'Malley) and Maw (Kathleen Freeman). In removing their spacesuits son Clem (William Bassett) exclaims that they're 'shedding their skins,' while daughter Daisy Lou (Lisa Gaye) is attracted to Major Healey. Jeannie has prepared a picnic as a welcome home present, only for Clem to try out his lecherous ways on the disappearing genie. Paw's main worry is that the family's illegal hooch might be discovered but news of a possible reward from NASA lights up his greedy eyes. Dr. Bellows arrives and actually meets two green Martians (not recognizing the two astronauts), with General Peterson again being led on a wild goose chase. The 60s popularity of rural comedies like THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, PETTICOAT JUNCTION, and GREEN ACRES inspired this fourth season opener.
