An aptitude for nothing
4 November 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"G.I. Jeannie" opens with Captain Nelson establishing a platonic relationship with Jeannie, though her kisses prove that she's the best 'buddy' he's ever had! A shortage of women in the Air Force inspires Jeannie to join up in order to become Tony's secretary, jealous of his current secretary (Eileen O'Neill). Tony doesn't complain because he knows that if she succeeds she'll undoubtedly be shipped off to North Africa like the others. The application process finds that Jeannie was born in Pompeii July 1, 21 B.C., making her 1500 years old (she honestly admits to being 2000!). In six weeks military training in San Antonio Jeannie learns that she has an aptitude for nothing, one day as a nurse's aide, another driving a jeep, leaving destruction in her wake at every stop.
