Storyline

Rather than go to McLaren's, their usual hangout, Barney convinces Ted to go to the airport with him to "pick someone up". It turns out that they're there to pick up some girls. While doing this, they fly to Philadelphia, get arrested by airport security and that's when Ted starts to wonder why he ends up in these adventures with Barney. Meanwhile Marshall has studying to do, so Lily and Robin do a girls night out and Lily notices guys are buying drinks and try talking to Robin, so Lily starts to wonder what it would be like to have her engagement ring off, and with Marshall's "blessing", she takes it off. In the end, Lily realizes that things aren't all that great with the ring off and Ted understands why he goes on these adventures/misadventures with Barney. Written by goleafs84

Quotes

[leaving Philadelphia]
Barney: Coulda licked the Liberty Bell.
Ted: We're going to the airport.
Barney: ...Bong... Bong... Bong...
Ted: Why do I hang out with you? Why? All I wanted was to have a regular beer at my regular bar with my regular friends in my regular *city!*
Barney: [trying to force Ted to make eye contact] Ted! Ted! Ted! You're not even looking, are you?
Ted: No I am not.
Barney: Ted! Look: our forefathers died for the pursuit of happiness! Not the "sit-around-and-wait" of happiness! Now if you want, you can go to the same bar,...

Neil Patrick Harris Makes This Episode Legendary
7 November 2014 | by See all my reviews

The third episode in of "How I Met Your Mother", and it's first great episode and it's all down to one man. Neil Patrick Harris, take a now sir.

Plot In A Paragraph: Ted (Josh Radnor) tells his kids sometimes in 2005, he was starting to wonder why he hung out with his self appointed best friend Barney Stinson (a hilariously delightful Neil Patrick Harris) because he would often get him in trouble, doing things he never wanted to do in the first place. Marshall (Jason Segel) was trying to study whilst Lily (Alyson Hannigan) had a girls night out with Robin (Cobie Smulders).

The character of permanently suited up womaniser Barney Stinson is what makes this episode. Neil Patrick Harris completely knocks it out of the park, he is awesome. The first two episodes he was giving is quotable lines, now he in the third episode he is giving us serious laugh out loud moments.

Well done sir, well done.
