The Duel (#1.8)

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode they are dealing with the idea of how your roommate's fiancé moves in. It was a bit of a shocker that Lily didn't live there yet. But they made it in a very fun way by having her discover that her old apartment is now a Chinese restaurant. This is what I like about the show, they have such original ideas for small situations.

The duel scene is also pretty fun. Marshall and Ted discussing who gets the apartment while playing with their swards. It has this bro atmosphere as well as a nice moment between great friends trying to figure out what comes next.

The lemon law was not too great, but at least there wasn't too much of it so it didn't affect the episode a lot. I am just not sure why they said that guy would obviously not be somebody for Robin? Because he had glasses? Lame! Anyways I was happy to see Martin Starr in it, I loved him in Freaks and Geeks.

The One With The Duel...

Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this episode. It's so funny. I can't believe how funny it is. And I honestly can't believe that Lily hadn't moved in sooner.

In this episode, Lily finally moves in with her fiancé, Marshall, but let's not forget that Ted lives there too. At first he's absolutely fine with her moving in, as she's like a sister to him, but after a while, things start to feel cramped for Ted, and like he doesn't get much of say anymore. Even though it was Ted's idea for Lily to move in, her doing things like replacing the coffee maker, and hanging a painting on the wall, causes Ted to get a bit over the top. He, and Marshall eventually have a duel with actual sword fights, and Ted ordered an English phone booth. They also fight to see who will get the apartment after Lily, and Marshall get married. Meanwhile, Barney implements the "lemon law" on his date so he won't waste time. Robin says it's horrible, but ends up wanting to use the law herself on a horrible date.

Best part of the episode: The Lemon Law.

Worst part of the episode: Nothing in particular.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.

An OK Episode
slightlymad2215 November 2014
There was a surprise revelation in this episode (At least to me) that Lily doesn't actually live with Marahall and Ted.

Plot In A Paragraph: Lily officially moves into Marshall and Ted's apartment. Bringing up the question of who will get the apartment after Marshall and Lily get married. Both Ted and Marshall love the place and Barney and Robin believe that Marshall and Lily will slowly edge him out. Meanwhile, Barney feels that he has wasted too much time on dates that he knew were going nowhere, so he decides to invent the "lemon law" and use it on his dates of giving the date five minutes before pulling the plug on it or not.

This is an OK episode, which "How I Met Your Mother" has had a few of, usually where Neil Patrick Harris is in the back ground.
