Storyline

Robin manages to get into OK, an ultra hip exclusive nightclub. Ted and Barney will be going with her, but not Marshall and Lily, as they have been doing a lot of "Classy grown-up things", as she referred it to and thinks it may be time for she and Marshall to grow up and put behind the things they used to do back in college. While at the club, Robin runs into problems as she cannot get into the VIP Room, then while outside trying to get it straightened out,a different front door bouncer will not let her in, even though she is on their list to get in, but her name is crossed off and shown she is already in. Meanwhile, Ted realizes that he is not crazy for nightclubs. Marshall and Lily wonder if doing all those "Classy gown up things" are all that great and Barney ends up getting into a very embarrassing situation that is so bad, he tells Ted what happened and that "this night did NOT happen" (in italics). Quotes

[after leaving the loud club, everyone is talking very loudly in the cab ride home]
Ted: I'm really glad you guys came out tonight!
Marshall Eriksen: You know, dude, can I just say something? It kinda hurt that you guys didn't invite me out. I mean, I know things have changed since I got engaged, but it would have been nice to be asked.
Ted: I'm sorry. I just assumed...
Barney: They played some great songs tonight!
Ted: I mean, lately...
Marshall Eriksen: I know, I know, it just seems like suddenly we're living in two different worlds. Maybe you've got ...

Not a great episode, but still all right
7 July 2017 | by See all my reviews

I loved Marshall's scene in the nightclub, I must say. That was perhaps the only thing I liked more than a little bit from this episode. I love his character in general. He is such a happy, nice guy, who inspires other people to want to be nicer people themselves. This episode is set mostly in a club, rather than their usual hangout at the bar. I wouldn't be able to watch this show if every episode was set in that nightclub though; it would burn out way too quickly. It's an average episode. Nothing too great happened, and it captures the truth about nightclubs: sometimes they're a hit, but usually they're a miss. Worth a watch, especially for Ted, Lilly, and Marshall.
