Storyline

Robin manages to get into OK, an ultra hip exclusive nightclub. Ted and Barney will be going with her, but not Marshall and Lily, as they have been doing a lot of "Classy grown-up things", as she referred it to and thinks it may be time for she and Marshall to grow up and put behind the things they used to do back in college. While at the club, Robin runs into problems as she cannot get into the VIP Room, then while outside trying to get it straightened out,a different front door bouncer will not let her in, even though she is on their list to get in, but her name is crossed off and shown she is already in. Meanwhile, Ted realizes that he is not crazy for nightclubs. Marshall and Lily wonder if doing all those "Classy gown up things" are all that great and Barney ends up getting into a very embarrassing situation that is so bad, he tells Ted what happened and that "this night did NOT happen" (in italics). Trivia

Standing outside the club among the three guys who see Lily and Robin flash their breasts is Samm Levine, who was cast alongside Jason Segal in the 1999-2000 Freaks and Geeks. When Marsall (Segal) walks by, Levine says he looks familiar and tries guessing who it is. See more »

Goofs

After Ted says, "What happened; did I just have a stroke?" he has his hand across his chest. In the camera angle on Barney, it's his other hand. Back on Ted's angle, it's his original hand again. See more »

Quotes

Lily: Hey.
Robin: Hey.
Lily: Marshall just ditched out on our own party. Could you get me in there? I kinda need to kill him.
Robin: Actually I can't even get myself in. I was such a dork. I get recognized one time and I start thinking I'm Julia Roberts. I'm no VIP, I'm not even an IP; I'm just a lonely little P sitting out here in the gutter.
Lily: You know something, I'd take a P in the gutter over Julia Roberts any day.

What A Waste Of Neil Patrick Harris
10 November 2014 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Plot In a Paragaph: Robin manages to get onto the guest list for OK, an exclusive nightclub. Ted and Barney will be going with her, but not Marshall and Lily, as they have been doing a lot of "Classy grown-up things".

After an episode heavily featuring Barney Stinson (The Brilliant Neil Patrick Harris) gave "How I Met Your Mother" it's best episode to date, the character has inexplicably been pushed in to the background in the last two episodes, in this one he spends almost the entire episode dancing with a girl in a nightclub. What a waste, the writers need to rectify this immediately.

Not a bad episode it had some good moments, mainly featuring Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan. And of course in his brief time on screen Neil Patrick Harris delivers.
