Robin manages to get into OK, an ultra hip exclusive nightclub. Ted and Barney will be going with her, but not Marshall and Lily, as they have been doing a lot of "Classy grown-up things", as she referred it to and thinks it may be time for she and Marshall to grow up and put behind the things they used to do back in college. While at the club, Robin runs into problems as she cannot get into the VIP Room, then while outside trying to get it straightened out,a different front door bouncer will not let her in, even though she is on their list to get in, but her name is crossed off and shown she is already in. Meanwhile, Ted realizes that he is not crazy for nightclubs. Marshall and Lily wonder if doing all those "Classy gown up things" are all that great and Barney ends up getting into a very embarrassing situation that is so bad, he tells Ted what happened and that "this night did NOT happen" (in italics). Did You Know?

After Ted says, "What happened; did I just have a stroke?" he has his hand across his chest. In the camera angle on Barney, it's his other hand. Back on Ted's angle, it's his original hand again. See more »

Ted: Barney!
Barney: Ted, get your coat, we're leaving.
Ted: What? What happened to that, uh..."cutlet" you were grinding with?
Barney: That was my cousin Leslie.
Ted: [laughing hysterically] WHAT?
Barney: No, NO!
[grabs Ted]
Barney: No. We are not laughing about this, Ted! This is not gonna be some funny story that we'll be telling in a couple of months, it's not going to be like, "Hey, heh, remember that time that you were GRINDING with - " NO. And do you know why? Because, italics: This night did *not* happen. And you promise me that you ...

Robin manages to get into OK, a very posh nightclub for hip people. Ted and Barney are psyched about the idea and decided to attend, but Marshall and Lilly make a promise to one another that they will start being more mature for more "grown up" things. Marshall is miserable and finds Lilly's friends to be deadening to the point where Marshall escapes through the bathroom window to party with Ted and Barney at the club. Lilly gets bored herself, but when she discovers that Marshall escaped, she heads out after him to the club. Meanwhile, Ted has trouble communicating with Robin's friend Kelly because of how loud the music is, Barney dances with a woman who leads to an unforgettable embarrassment. This is a very entertaining episode. It rings true about clubs. It's fun for younger adults, but holds little of interest for people over 25, a lot of the time anyway. Marshal and Lilly's had a lot of truth to it as well. Women want to make an impression amongst their snobby friends and they start acting like them. I would totally be in Marshall's shoes. My only carp is that Ted and Robin are relegated to the back-burner somewhat, as is Barney to a certain degree. They have their own story lines, but they weren't fleshed out enough for me. It is never fully explained how Marshall got rid of his toothache either
