Storyline

Hard-bitten private eye Nick Garvey is hired by Martin Jennings to get the goods on his cheating wife Melissa; inexplicably, the client refuses to identify himself, explaining that all the detective needs to know is the $10,000 in cash that is generously offered in an envelope, with a promise for $50,000 more upon delivery of the incriminating photographs. Nick captures the wife in compromising positions, and is later paid a visit by the woman, who demands that he stay out of her life. Nick grows soft on the gal, and much as the story has established that he is deeply in debt, Nick does not bat an eyelash when the disappointed husband triples his original offer. "I'll think about it," he coolly responds to the $30,000 + $150,000 offered by an increasingly frustrated Mr. Jennings; evidently, greater treasures are in store for the private dick.
