Storyline

Hired to protect a gated community after a rash of burglaries, Honey and Sam discover a deluded burglar who actually believes that he is Robin Hood. They decide to humor him not only because they fear he will only confess the location of the hidden jewels to someone he trusts but also because they suspect that someone is directing the weak-minded thief. Something wrong when character actors are the best thing about it
11 October 2008 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Another "Honey West" attempt at comedy falls flat. Ed Byrnes turns in a silly—rather than funny—performance as a man who is so convinced that he is Robin Hood that he robs from the wealthy homes in a gated community. Only Severn Darden's uninspired portrayal of the psychiatrist saves Byrnes from being the worst actor in the episode.

At least the plot has more promise or at least makes somewhat more sense than the previous comic episodes, and at least this time, the murder victim is someone we might care a little more about than in the previous episode if only we missed the actor's performance after he is gone. Better casting could have made a difference.

Kudos to old character actors—Allen Jenkins as the guard at the gate and Eleanor Audley as the society matron—who outshine the bigger names in this cast. Peter Leeds chews the scenery as the police lieutenant, but perhaps he was frustrated having to act with the understated Darden.
